In June, the SML had the pleasure of hosting a group of finance students from one of our renowned partner schools in the UK, the University of Exeter.
55 students of the MSc program ‘Financial Analysis and Fund Management’ at the University of Exeter participated in an intensive two-day program of lectures, including ‘Hedge Funds and ‘Swiss Culture and Economy’. Bank Vontobel provided them with valuable insights into the positioning and philosophy of a traditional Swiss private bank. On Day 2, the group visited LGT Capital Partners, a leading alternative investment management company located in Pfäffikon. They were met by CEO Roberto Paganoni, who gave a presentation on ‘Hedge Funds Management and Private Equity’. Another highlight was a guest lecture by Mark Dittli, Chief Editor of ‘Finanz und Wirtschaft’. During an interesting morning session, he talked about the ‘Future of Swiss Banking after the Abolishment of Banking Secrecy’ and the exciting developments of the ‘Digitalization of the Banking Sector’. From Winterthur, the Exeter students travelled on to Italy to start the second part of their study trip at Bocconi University.
