Senior SML lecturer Dr. Petra Barthelmess was officially awarded the title of professor on 9 July 2019. This week the Dean Reto Steiner handed Petra Barthelmess the certificate on behalf of the SML Executive Committee.
Professor Barthelmess has been a lecturer and researcher at the ZHAW School of Management and Law (SML) since 2007, where her focus has been on international communication, international relations, and political economics. She also heads the Master’s program in International Business and is in charge of International Education. Now the Executive Committee has awarded her a professor title.
Michael Farley, Deputy Director of the Department of International Business, said: “Petra’s professorship is well-deserved and has been given to her in recognition of her outstanding work over many years at the SML. She takes time to support her faculty colleagues, particularly those who are new to the School. Petra has an excellent research background and is recognized as an expert in the fields of intercultural communication and international relations. We are delighted that Petra has been awarded the professorship title.”
As in Petra Barthelmess’s case, it was the department heads who used to propose suitable candidates from among their colleagues for the title of professor. From fall 2019, a selection committee will review possible candidates and make recommendations to the Executive Committee. Click here to find out more about the new procedure.
