The ZHAW School of Management and Law operates a collegiate chapter of the International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) – one of the advantages of being accredited by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Businessis. The best students and some faculty members can be invited to become members of this unique network of “best in business.”
We are delighted to announce that our chapter has qualified as a “Highest Honors Chapter” based on its activities during the last academic year, which are measured by an activity point system. As the name says, this is the highest level achievable, and it reflects the high acceptance rate in particular of our bachelor’s students, the service of our BGS student officers, various activities, and a special bonus. Our chapter qualified as a “High Honors Chapter” previously in its first two operating years
The chapter received a scholarship for the BGS Global Leadership Summit in Chicago, IL, due to this honor roll program. The nomination committee has awarded this scholarship, which includes free registration and hotel accommodation, to Johannes Scheibler, an alumnus of our BSc in Business Administration program. He will represent the chapter at this event in early November 2018.
Chapter’s Executive Student Leadership Team
The two new BGS student officers for the academic year 2018/19 are Fiona Ernst (VP Programming and Membership/PR) and Fabian Johannes (President). They represent the full-time study programs BSc in Business Administration with a specialization in General Management and Banking and Finance, respectively. The role of a BGS student officer is to promote student involvement, facilitate operations, and improve the value of BGS membership.
Next Recognition Ceremony
There will be a special guest at the next recognition ceremony on 22 February 2019: Christina Carosella, Chief Executive Officer of BGS, who will be the keynote speaker. She has served in various executive positions (e.g., Senior Vice President, GE Capital) and is currently a member of various boards.
The best students and some faculty members will be invited to join BGS in late November 2018.
Inductees and current BGS members can expect an invitation for the next recognition ceremony by the end of January 2019. Separate registration will be required. Space is limited.
